During his time at Baylor, in the 2025 season, Taumanupepe recorded two total tackles, both of which were assisted tackles. These came during games where Baylor faced tough losses against Arizona and Arizona State, showcasing the challenges he faced on the field.
Florida's approach to recruiting Taumanupepe was notably swift; they reached out only a few days before he visited the campus. Despite the limited time to build rapport, defensive line coach Gerald Chatman made it clear that Taumanupepe was a priority for the Gators.
